Fish Farming Project in Haiti

A fish pond in Northern Haiti, where Tilapia is being grown.

Aquaculture is a way of raising fish in enclosures or ponds to be consumed or sold as food. We have been working at exploring fish farming in Northern Haiti where our enthusiastic young Haitian leader, Jeff Philocles, who is an aquaculture expert, is encouraging, training and supporting local farmers and groups to start their own fish farms. The goal is to teach and train farmers to produce fish as a sustainable source of food and income. And it’s working! Currently, we have several Haitian partners who have started their own farms, and have been able to feed their families and sell the fish for income.
